Official Launch of the NRT-LEAD Program!

Students, faculty, and staff from across the WSU system representing 5 campuses and 4 colleges converged in Pullman to celebrate the official kickoff of the NRT-LEAD program! After opening remarks by leading WSU administrators, speakers discussed the aims of the program, programmatic components and traineeship opportunities, as well as the nomination process for becoming an NRT Fellow or Scholar.

“NRT Fellows and Scholars: that is a special designation that a very small fraction of graduate students in the country are going to hold.”

Mary Rezac, Dean of the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture

“As we enter into academia, we become intensely hyper-focused on an area that we want to pursue …intellectually we find ourselves hemmed in by our own passions and our own career progress. What is really exciting about this program is that it breaks that mold…participating students move to something better than interdisciplinary work, and that is a truly integrated education.”

Todd Butler, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

“Where outstanding technical work meets outstanding socially relevant work… this proposal really reflects the best of WSU: leading edge education and research coupled with very strong dedication to societal impact and inclusion.”

Chris Keane, Vice President of Research

“Seven distinct schools and departments so blended beautifully…every discipline is bringing to the table to better achieve the goals of this project…implementing from lab to workforce.”

Tammy Barry, Vice Provost for Graduate and Professional Education
